IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO STUDENTS: attending the class ‘Film Study’ course (VISC 2B08 D03, Sec.01, Instructor: Peter Steven) at The Ontario College of Art & Design (Main Building ,Room No.230, Time: 6:30 pm - 9:20 pm)
A person in your class at Ontario College of Art & Design has been recently diagnosed with Pertussis (Whooping cough).
Pertussis (Whooping Cough) is a disease that is spread very easily from infected persons to others through coughing or sneezing. Pertussis (Whooping Cough) is a serious communicable disease which may cause the following:
· starts with a runny nose and cough at first, usually within 3 weeks of contact with an infected individual;
· followed 1 to 2 weeks later by sudden violent attacks of coughing
· these attacks of coughing can end in a high pitched whoop sound, loss of breath or vomiting and;
· can last for 1-2 months (or longer).
If you develop any of these symptoms, on or before February 21, 2006 telephone your doctor right away. Notify your doctor that you may have been in contact with someone diagnosed with Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and that you may be experiencing symptoms of Pertussis.
Toronto Public Health recommends that all children, adolescents and adults be fully immunized against Pertussis. Please confirm with your doctor that you are up-to-date for Pertussis immunization. Although Pertussis vaccine for adults is not publicly funded, you may still wish to speak with your physician to update your immunization.
